Keeping Kalispell home, while shaping what’s next — together.

Meet Lisa

Hi, I'm Lisa Blank and I’m running to represent Ward Two on the Kalispell City Council. I’m a mom, a neighbor, community advocate, and someone who cares deeply about this place we all call home.

I grew up bouncing from one military base to another until my family landed in North Dakota, where I spent my middle and high school years wishing for a hill—or even just a slight rise on the horizon. I still can't talk about the wind.

When I moved to Montana in 1997, I knew this was where I wanted to put down roots — not just for the mountains, but for the close-knit communities where relationships matter and people look out for one another. That kind of trust and connection is what drew me in — and what’s kept me here.

Like many who love and care deeply about this place, I’ve faced familiar hurdles: limited job opportunities, rising costs, and the ongoing challenge of making it all work. Along the way, my kids were born and raised and are now off building their own lives. I have family scattered all across Montana.

Over the years, I’ve watched this area grow and change — sometimes in exciting ways, and other times in ways that can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming, especially for those who have called Kalispell home for generations.

I believe Kalispell needs leadership that honors this long-standing sense of place, while also planning thoughtfully for the future. We need voices at the table that understand the challenges and hopes of everyone who calls this place home, whether they’ve been here for generations or are just starting their journey here, and who are committed to making sure growth strengthens the foundations of our community.

I've worked as a Superfund Remediation Specialist, Secondary Science Teacher, Science Education Professor, Dean of Career and Technical Education, and STEM Hub Director. Currently, I serve as the Executive Director of Workforce Development at Flathead Valley Community College where I work to connect people with career opportunities, support local business needs, and strengthen our regional economy. I’m also a board member for Montana West Economic Development and a citizen science volunteer for the Northwest Montana Lakes Network—both roles that reflect my commitment to sustainable growth and community service.

I’m running for City Council because I believe Kalispell’s best days are ahead—but only if we plan for strategic development that balances economic vitality with quality of life. From housing affordability to infrastructure improvements, I’ll bring a collaborative, solutions-focused voice to the table—one that’s grounded in experience, guided by data, and centered on people.

Kalispell deserves thoughtful leadership that listens and leads with integrity. I’d be honored to earn your support as we build a stronger future—together.
